EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Per the EMDRIA website, (www.emdria.org), " Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders ".
EMDR is unique in that a client does not need to extensively discuss their trauma for healing to occur. EMDR accesses memories, images, and feeling with the goal of reprocessing unresolved trauma.
An excellent video that beautifully explains EMDR therapy can be found here: https://www.emdria.org/about-emdr-therapy/
